When we first learned about the epidemic of child sexual abuse which afflicted our high school in New York City, Horace Mann, we were stunned.

Within weeks we helped form (and brand) the HM Action Coalition -- a non-profit whose mission was to fight child sexual abuse in schools, starting with our own.
 
We quickly created a website ... managed a lively social media presence on Facebook ... and played air traffic controller when the media descended.
 
There were days when we were juggling calls and emails from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NBC News.
 
It's not easy to get a five-page spread in PEOPLE magazine.  We pitched the article in March.  It appeared in PEOPLE seven months later.
